Laravel Installation

In this post we will have a look at the steps involved in laravel installation. Laravel requires Composer a Dependency Manager. We need to make sure that we have composer installed before configuring Laravel installation.

Step 1 -Composer Download– Visit the below url and download composer to install on the system.

Step 2 – Composer Installation – After installing the composer we need to check the composer installation.
Open Command prompt -> Type composer and check the composer is installed.
The composer version details should be displayed as mentioned below.

Step 3 – Laravel Installation – We can install laravel in any directory on the system. The next step is to create a folder on your system for your laravel project. After creating folder navigate to the folder path you created and type following command to install Laravel.

composer create-project laravel/laravel --prefer-dist

Laravel will be installed in the folder you specified.

Step 4- Start Laravel Service – After completing laravel installation the next step is to start laravel service. Execute the following command.

php artisan serve

Once the above command is executed we can see the screen below.

Step 4- Start Laravel project in browser– In the above image we can see the laravel development server is started at http://127.0.0.1:8000. Copy the url and enter it in the browser. You can see laravel project is set and working in the browser as shown below.

We need to execute all the above mentioned steps in order to properly install laravel project on the system. We need to have internet connected during installation as the packages are downloaded from the server.
